About Us

My name is Brian Shannon and I own and operate Certified Painting, LLC.  I live in Poughkeepsie, NY, with my wife and two daughters.

I am originally from Long Island, NY, where I first started painting as a freshman in high school. In 2010, I graduated from Binghamton University with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. After college, I met my wife and moved up to the Hudson Valley. After working a couple of years at the IBM in East Fishkill, I went back to school and received dual Master's degrees in Childhood Education and Students With Disabilities. I taught middle school special education for 5+ years in Ulster County. Throughout this journey, I never stopped painting. It filled my weekends, holidays, and summers. 

In November 2021 I officially walked away from a tenured teaching position to pursue this painting business full time. I came to realize that this is what I'm truly passionate about. I am dedicated to not only the craftsmanship of the trade, but forming meaningful relationships with members of my community and sharing my love of painting and transforming spaces with all of my clients. I am genuinely blessed to wake up every day and do what I love.
